About The Terezin Initiative
The mission of The Terezin Initiative is to bring together and to represent
former prisoners of the Terezin Ghetto and other concentration camps, who
were interned as a result of anti-Jewish persecution. The Terezin Initiative
has 730 members in the Czech Republic, 80 in Slovakia and 330 members abroad.
It strives to preserve, in a dignified manner, the memory of those who
did not survive and it has undertaken the documentation of the Terezin
Ghetto history in order to make it known to the younger generations who
did not live during the Nazi period. The activities of The Terezin Initiative
include documentation, education, social and medical support and organization
of exhibits.
The funding of all Terezin Initiative projects comes exclusively from
members contributions and from bequests and gifts from domestic and foreign
organizations and individuals. The members of the presiding body and the
secreteriat all volunteer their services.
